Invest in your neighborhood
We are fortunate to live in Wilshire Heights. It doesn’t matter if we own or rent, we all benefit from the beauty, cohesiveness and friendliness of our neighborhood. We are close to downtown and the arts district by Dar t rail or car. The Dallas Arboretum is a short drive and we can walk to beautiful White Rock Lake. If you take a walk down Alderson or Norris, or any neighborhood street for that matter, there is a good chance you will meet people you know, or pass someone who will smile and say hello. Strong vibrant neighborhoods don’t just happen. They require work and commitment. Membership matters and you can make a difference by investing today in the Wilshire Heights Neighborhood Association (WHNA). Here are just a few of the many ways you can participate in keeping Wilshire Heights one of the safest, friendliest neighborhoods in Dallas.
Join the neighborhood association
A very small annual donation secures your membership (as low as $5 for seniors!). Your contribution helps support our community and makes a real difference in our neighborhood. You will never find a better value for your money. Every penny of your membership goes into making your neighborhood a better place to live. Please use the envelope enclosed with this newsletter to join today.
Attend our monthly association meetings
Please join us at our monthly neighborhood association meetings. They are generally held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm, at a neighbors’ home. Association meetings are a great way to meet other residents and stay informed about the neighborhood. Plus there are always great snacks and a glass of wine or two. Look at the newsletter for more information on locations and dates.
Attend our bi-annual general membership meetings
Twice a year we invite the entire neighborhood to come together at a local church, wine bar or tavern. These meetings generally include snacks & drinks, an update on neighborhood activities and a great speaker. In the past we have had talks on keeping our gardens beautiful during the hot Dallas summers, living with the increasing wildlife in our neighborhood and tips for keeping our neighborhood safe. Mark your calendar for April 21 when we will gather at Times Ten Cellars Too for wine, pizza and a talk on water-wise gardening.
